***Special thank you!

Over the past 3 days there have been some larger purchases on Amazon that were made after clicking here, that have really touched me. I don't know whether you helped me by accident or on purpose, but I am SO grateful!

As many of you know, the time for this list comes either from early waking, or while my family wonders why I'm doing it.  I few months ago I started using the affiliate program on the advice of a kind reader.  While almost all of the books here are free, if someone goes on one and then goes on to buy something on Amazon, I get a small referral commission.  I cannot tell you how grateful I am when there is a little buildup of them on days like the past three days.  It feels so much more worth it to my family.

So , thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

FICTION

Nature Survival and other Hardship

Prelude to Reveille: A Vietnam Awakening
“Inspired by real-life experiences of the author and her husband, this historical fiction mines the personal histories of protagonist Tom Barrington and other soldiers during this turbulent period…Sawyer presents a hard contrast between the repeatedly tested valor of such noble heroes, and the chilling response to them from this once-proud country.”

Catherine's Travels
“Catherine and her family flee the ravaged, war torn country of Austria in pursuit of freedom and the American dream. Natives end the family's quest leaving Catherine to fend for herself in the wilderness.”
     Followed by
Catherine's Travels (Lawson's Search)

Catherine will take a terrifying, yet rewarding journey with her husband's arch enemy. Blue Eyes goes on a vision quest that will change his life forever.”

Follow the Star (Young Underground #7)
Youth, likely Christian. “Peter and Elise Andersen and their friend Henrik Melchior are worried when Henrik's mother and a family friend, Matthias Karlsson, fail to return from a short flight to Sweden. Has something happened to Matthias's plane? Then a mysterious caller informs Peter that Ruth Melchior and Matthias are being held by the Russian forces occupying the Danish island of Bornholm. The charge: spying! But the line goes dead before Peter can ask any questions. Frantic, Peter, Elise, and Henrik set sail for the island with Uncle Morten at the helm of the Anna Marie. But their arrival is met by secretive Russian soldiers who deny keeping any prisoners. How can Peter and the others persuade the Russians to release Mrs. Melchior and Matthias when the soldiers will not even admit they are there?”

Collapse, Post-Apocalypse, Speculative Futures

Glass House: Climate Change in the Third Millennium
"’Like sheep mounting each other on the way to the slaughterhouse’, observes the cynical, opportunistic geologist, Professor Richard Tournier, as eco-disaster slowly overwhelms Britain. Appointed to a key government committee to mitigate the effects of catastrophic climate change, Tournier cheerfully chronicles the self-interest, greed and vanity of our rulers as the disaster unfolds.”

I Hope You Find Me
“Life for Riley ends when her young children die in her arms…victims of a global viral outbreak that claims the lives of everyone she’s ever known. Left to fend for herself with only a dog as her companion, she sets out on a journey to find others, leaving notes everywhere she goes…hoping that one day someone will come looking for her. “ See link for more plot. Highly reviewed.
