Wicks, 1908  which can be read free here: http://archive.org/details/logcabinscottage00wick  So like I wrote last week about a different book, if anyone is able or willing to put in a review revealing this (I can't due to never having paid money for anything on Amazon yet) it would be greatly appreciated.  It's obviously copied, but the supposed author gives no credit.  Booooooo!

Health

This was released later yesterday so I added it today also.
The Lancet: Zoonoses: Global Health Series
The Lancet is a respected medical journal. This is a preorder (click now; will be sent to your account Dec 10.) "Endemic and enzootic zoonoses cause about a billion cases of illness in people and millions of deaths every year, and emerging zoonoses are a rising threat to global health. Zoonoses – pathogenic organisms such as bacteria or viruses which we share with animals – cause more than 60% of human infectious diseases, and have been responsible for some of the most devastating disease outbreaks in recent years, including HIV, Ebola, and SARS. However, despite their huge, and rising, impact on human health, there are still huge gaps in our understanding of how zoonoses spread and develop, which need to be urgently addressed if we are to be able to reduce the impact of the next zoonotic pandemic..."

The grammar is a bit suspect; the reviews are all from people who didn’t purchase it through Amazon, but it might have good information.

In the Balkans, he encounters a landscape of ruins as the traumatised population struggle to deal with the grim realities of ethnic conflict. Finally, in an obscure corner of the ex-USSR, he joins a band of youthful activists as they attempt to topple a paranoid and authoritarian regime.”

Set in South American dictatorship, “opponents …go missing…corpses reappear, …horribly tortured and executed. Only this time, one man has his finger on the volcano's hair trigger. Folks, This Ain't Normal: A Farmer's Advice for Happier Hens, Healthier People, and a Better World
This is one of the main books of the Real Food movement. “Salatin, hailed by the New York Times as "Virginia's most multifaceted agrarian since Thomas Jefferson [and] the high priest of the pasture" and profiled in the Academy Award nominated documentary Food, Inc. and the bestselling book The Omnivore's Dilemma, understands what food should be: Wholesome, seasonal, raised naturally, procured locally, prepared lovingly, and eaten with a profound reverence for the circle of life. And his message doesn't stop there. From child-rearing, to creating quality family time, to respecting the environment, Salatin writes with a wicked sense of humor and true storyteller's knack for the revealing anecdote. Salatin's crucial message and distinctive voice--practical, provocative, scientific, and down-home philosophical in equal measure”

  1. Wow! Huge list today, thanks for all the hard work.

RE: Log Cabins: How to Build and Furnish Them, by William S. Wicks, 1908 plagarization issue - sent in my review, should come out later today. Did the one the other day too. Reprinting a credited book is one thing, not giving credit is plain old intellectual theft. :(

BTW, I like the new section you've added, "Just Nice Reading."

    Enjoy your weekend.
