Books Available June 17, 2012

Today's Books:

Make The Dough Illustrated Volume 1: Basic Whole Wheat
Written before the age of cut-n-paste Kindle "cookbooks," with helpful pictures.  She uses freshly ground whole wheat.  Looks really good, written by someone who's been working on it for years, so has a lot of tips from experience.  I also thought it was interesting how they set up a gas oven outside for baking bread in hot summers.

Make Cider without Fuss or Chemicals
Real (British-style) apple cider from fresh juice, no yeast.  "The author has over 15 years experience in the production of cider from trees in his own garden and has won prizes for his cider in local shows in Somerset. The booklet includes some valuable tips on the preparation and storage of apple juice and cider."

Easy Homeschooling Techniques and Curriculum Studies

How to Get to the Future Before It Gets to You
Doomsday humour, "a daring and amusing antidote to those Doomsday prophets who believe that man is destined to destroy himself and planet earth."

The Scientific Method of Fighting
"This book explains the principles and concepts of every martial art in a practical and easy to apply way...Topics include mastery, grappling, striking, fitness, extraordinary circumstance, footwork, and more."

Planet Pouch: Simple Juice Pouch Bags Anyone Can Make
Ways to re-purpose juice pouches into bags, handy if you already use them.  May be good ideas for re-purposing similar materials too.

The Cycle's End: How our greed driven lifestyle will lead to mankind's ultimate demise

Democracy and Debt - The European Debt Crisis

------------------------------------
FICTION

Series.  #1 is free right now.  "When the environment is ravaged by rising sea levels and monstrous storms, America is divided and survival becomes more precious than love."
No Shelter (#1) A Post-Apocalyptic Romance (No Shelter Trilogy)
Not free at the moment: Left Behind (No Shelter, #2) A Post-Apocalyptic Romance (No Shelter Trilogy), and Buried Alive (No Shelter, #3) A Post-Apocalyptic Romance (No Shelter Trilogy)

Burnt Lake
Reviewer explains: "Burnt Lake is a short story about Mike who wants to be prepared in case he ever needs survivalist techniques. Mike is a tech junkie, a programmer but he prefers the wilderness to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. He goes into the wilderness of northern Ontario, to try out his survivalist techniques and while he is sleeping he is transported into a nightmarish future with no technology and man struggling to exist without it."

Playing God
Shifts in the ocean’s currents due to the melting polar caps have led to the collapse of a large section of the western continental shelf triggering a massive tsunami that hits China, killing millions and leaving the country in ruin. In its wake a pathogen emerges that threatens the entire world. ... "

City in a Bottle
"Huddled within their glass-cage city they lived, the last survivors of the Ice-Age cataclysm... One man dared the hostile world of freezing death outside the city in a bottle, in a wild despairing fight to turn back the clock and save the smouldering embers of mankind...An epic quest to save the remains of humanity from itself."

Indivisible (Overlooked by Liberty)
"The United States' economy has tumbled after two decades of fighting terrorism worldwide. The brutality to New Hampshire's children (in accidental massacre by guns meant to fight terrorism) ignites national support for a rebellion to instate government reform."

Feed
"Soon Ramone is on the run, but will he escape when every square inch of the 'free' world is being watched? "

The Last Dawn
"The Last Dawn begins in late 2055 during the last few days of Earth. ... Only a few hours remain for life on the dying planet when the entire population is dispersed throughout the universe. " Obviously, sci-fi. :)
