Please see the sidebar at right for a quick explanation of this blog. Have fun getting new books! :)
Reader "Dave" comments with a tip:
"I ran into a problem downloading books with the .AZW[1] file extension. They don't show up on the Home page and don't work with Amazon's Kindle for PC download.
"According to the Kindle Forum it's a glitch that they're working on. One can fix it by downloading to your PC (Apple users are on their own), go to the folder you downloaded it to and RENAME the file by deleting "[1]" in the extension. To do that you must go to CONTROL PANEL, select FOLDER OPTIONS, select VIEW, and make sure the line saying "hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked. The file should now read "Yadda-Yadda.AZW" Then just copy it to your Kindle via USB cable."
Thanks for the great tip, Dave! I hope that other readers remember it if and when they run into this problem.
Anonymous also comments with a problem:
"the books have not been coming to my email the last few days...I have my email linked from your blog. I was getting them every day and then nothing."
My reply: I'm sorry this is happening! I haven't changed any settings recently, and I don't know who I would contact to actually get help--Blogger, Google, or some feed company. I have been having troubles with Google Reader working properly for me for over a week now, but I don't know how that can be related. Maybe a more tech-y person has some suggestions....if you do, please help!
Here's what I wrote a while back to someone with a similar problem (only their emails were arriving the next day rather than not at all.) September 18 post about feed problems.

Turn Back Time (The Stoneworth Chronicles)
Award winning. Excellent and extensive reviews. “Security, gentleness, joy, love, and faith were hallmarks of Hattie Stoneworth Crowe’s life. Now the horrors of the Great Depression and the death of her husband threaten her future and that of her three-year-old daughter and unborn child. A potentially greater danger looms from an unexpected source. Smith Delaney, an out-of-work miner known for his wanderlust, hair-trigger temper, fast fists, and love for liquor comes to her looking for work as a handyman. Against all reason, she hires him. Their story is set in the coal fields of Muhlenberg County, in west-central Kentucky. Through hardships of the times, through birth and death, tragedy and triumph, a young woman seeks to hold on to faith and family; and a lonely man seeks family and faith. “

Or maybe this should be in the next section. A little hard to tell. “A pharmaceutical company receives a lucrative government contract for a vaccine currently coveted by the entire U.S. population. They set the price at $60,000 per shot, putting the vaccine out of the reach of all but the wealthiest of Americans. The situation creates a class warfare powder keg that only needs one thing to ignite, the words of a man….A revolution has begun.”

The Codex file
“Forget everything you think you know about the internet. If you think nefarious web sites peddling a cocktail of online scams, illegal pornography, racial hatred and vicious computer viruses was all you had to worry about - think again. The government has banned access to the internet and the world wide web, dubbing it an illegal, unregulated zone. Sounds good news doesn't it, until you know that its replacement controls every aspect of your life, from digital content, provision of your gas, water and electricity, and all your money. And with everything and everybody connected, we're all now potential targets if we oppose it. Do you still feel safe? Empowered? Connected?”
The Broken Road

The Declaration
“Democracy and freedom require constant vigilance, now more than ever. In The Declaration, discover what happens when a President sees himself as above the law…and a nation tries to free itself from his unrighteous grasp on the levers of power. It’s not just a novel. It’s a warning of what could happen…and sooner than we think.”

REDUCTIONS
Breakers
Sci-fi, virus. “When Vanessa dies of the flu, Walt is devastated. But she isn't the last. The virus quickly kills billions, reducing New York to an open grave and LA to a chaotic wilderness of violence and fires. As Raymond and Mia hole up in an abandoned mansion, where they learn to function without electricity, running water, or neighbors, Walt begins an existential walk to LA, where Vanessa had planned to move when she left him. He expects to die along the way.
Months later, a massive vessel appears above Santa Monica Bay. Walt is attacked by a crablike monstrosity in a mountain stream. The virus that ended humanity wasn't created by humans. It was inflicted from outside. The colonists who sent it are ready to finish the job--and Earth's survivors may be too few and too weak to resist.”

PLAGUE, The Release
“A war weary veteran, Chris Owens, returns to his apartment after his team's mission in rural Western Maryland. The mission to find and secure a contaminated soldier appeared successful, but the situation quickly spirals out of control as the uncontained virus spreads at an astounding rate. As death spreads across the landscape, it has an even more ghastly consequence and small groups of everyday people try to survive. A father and his two children witness the destruction and death from the distance of their remote cabin, but they are not insusceptible to the onslaught of the virus. A woman and her elderly father avoid the quarantines and roadblocks to escape the city only to find death encroaching in the countryside. As these few survivors band together in a world where they are the minority, their survival is measured in hours. Chris deals with his own demons while attempting to avoid the ever growing number of infected who relentlessly pursue the survivors; his mission: to keep everyone alive long enough to find asylum or answers. Time is quickly running out.”
