"A Very Brief History" series
The Story of a Pioneer by Anna Howard Shaw (listed Apr. 2) may also be read directly online HERE. Plot synopsis and review can be found HERE. The first part is about Scottish immigrants who face hardship at home and in the "new world." Descriptions of her mother's reaction to the conditions are poignant. Later the story moves to the author's suffrage work.+
