Free Books Available Mar 1, 2013

Thank you SO much to all those who, out of the goodness of their heart and appreciation for the books, used my affiliate links over the past few days to help me get a small commission.  I appreciate it SO MUCH!  Thank you, thank you!

(The changes don't mean no one can ever use an affiliate link again.  It just means that in order for me to continue listing free books every day, I will need people to both use the affiliate links in the sidebar to make their Amazon purchases AND if those sidebar links were clicked on and no purchase was completed, to then wait at least 24 hours to download free books from the list.)***explanation at bottom.

-----------------
Today's the first day of semi-chaos!  No easy way to search for the free books or to list them.  Trying new ways of searching and new ways of listing.  I hope it smooths out a bit and doesn't take this long every day!

If you could PLEASE PLEASE wait to download until it's been at least 24 hours since you last clicked on one of my Amazon affiliate links..UNLESS you made a paid purchase after clicking it--an affiliate link would include the free books from yesterday AND/OR the Amazon links on the sidebar...this would help to ensure I don't run up the total too quickly and have to stop listing mid-month.***(see explanation at bottom)

For the health and a few other non-fiction, I've tried using the link program.  For the other ones, note that the pictures themselves are no longer links, only the titles of the books are links.

That's our mother. ...: her unconditional love for all of her eight children. ...As a child I had no idea there were bad times...no money, no food, rejection, humiliation, abandonment, suicides...that's because she was the kind of person who kept adult issues out of sight, out of earshot, from children. It was not until I was an adult that she reluctantly told me what happened between her and my father."

When the Queen’s rebellious daughter, Shayla, falls for a commoner, the Queen refuses to condone the marriage. Shayla’s lover, Nathaniel, is left with unsavory options. Everything changes once he is kidnapped into The Underground, a secret renegade organization on a mission to overthrow the extremist regime. They train Nathaniel to infiltrate high society. Vestige (Book #1)Vestige (Book #1)
"In the Midwestern suburb of LaGrange, something is amiss. Over a twenty-four-hour period, all the children under the age of thirteen along with many adults have disappeared without explanation. It doesn't take long for those left behind to learn that this tragedy is part of a global event. As people panic, civilization begins to crumble. Luckily, the Secretary of Homeland Security, Daniel Grimshaw, has a plan to restore order. But first, every remaining person must be accounted for and tagged with a mark on their right hand.

Unaware of his responsibilities, seventeen-year-old Micah has been preparing for this day. His mother trained him and provided him with the proper tools, but she neglected to tell Micah about the family legacy, his legacy. Now that his mother is among the missing, will Micah ever discover who he is, or what he needs to do to save what's left of humanity from the hellfire of perdition?

RebirthRebirth
"Fleeing their homes in the city, three teens find themselves on the run with little kids in tow. As people vanish and buildings crumble, they seek shelter in the nearby mountains. Survival depends on their ability to adapt with nothing more than the items pilfered from a crumbling store. Hovering in the background is the constant threat of being discovered by the aliens, adding to the pressure the teens feel having no shelter, a limited supply of food and the well-being of three children to ensure. They must come up with some creative solutions before the inevitable onset of winter, while attempting to remain “invisible” to avoid capture. Being mature and responsible is no longer optional as they deal with their individual personalities, traumas, and learn to raise a baby. Unaware of the extent of the alien destruction, they can’t help but wonder if all their efforts are in vain."

EnlightenmentEnlightenment
"From the ashes of the Third Civil War rose a new leader and a new nation, free from the tyranny and oppression of the East. The Exalted One promised the citizens freedom, independence, and the gift of Enlightenment, in return for total obedience to “The State.”

Seventeen-year-old James Schylus has always lived to serve the State, but as starvation devastates the population, he’s forced to confront the truth: that the world he knows and loves is nothing more than a façade. He must choose to remain and die, or betray his country, his people, and his dear leader by journeying to that country in the east, to America."
Desperate TimesDesperate Times
"Imagine waking up to the horrific news of an economic cataclysm. Around the globe, investors have panicked and the markets are on the verge of collapse. The unthinkable has happened. There is a run on the banks and the dollar is in a free-fall. With time running out, you rush out the door and try to prepare for the worst-case scenario; only to learn that hyperinflation has arrived and prices have already begun to skyrocket. This is the sad beginning of Desperate Times."

Dominion I: SeedDominion I: Seed
1st of “an apocalyptic epic in seven books;” “A great monument of the Islamic faith crumbles to the ground in a freak earthquake, setting the stage for mankind’s entry into the next age; an apocalyptic time where right and wrong, love and indifference, and black and white fade into alternating shades of gray. “

Lunar OneLunar One
"This novella is a cross between 1984 and Escape from Alcatraz. It is a story of what is happening today in our country. 1. If we use your affiliate link, do you get a commission for anything we buy from Amazon during that session (apps, MP3s, furniture, etc) or only if we purchase books? I purchase more "stuff" from Amazon than books and if I can help by using your affiliate link, I'd be glad to. After all, you've gone to a lot of effort to permit me, and others, to get a lot of useful books for free.

Also, I was thinking of another way to help you keep your counts down. Instead of posting links to a bunch of free books, could you post some tips on how you discover the free books? That way we can all be researchers and post our discoveries in the comments here. Since those links wouldn't be using your affiliate link, they wouldn't count towards your limit, right? Since they'd be comments and not _your_ posts, would Amazon discriminate them as different from your blog entries?

Whatever happens, I just wanted to thank you for all you've done for the community. I've benefited greatly from your hard work and really appreciate it.

    1. I'm sorry you had to repeat your question and it's taken so long to get the hour or two to formulate a reply. I'll reply in a special post. Thank you so much for your encouragement, and also your wish to help. :)

  2. Something I saw on another free kindle book blog that might work here as well. In addition to listing free books (only a few), they are also listing books for $0.01 (1 cent). This really helps bump up the purchase / free ratio and I don't think anyone can squawk about paying a cent for a book instead of free.

I don't know if you can communicate with the authors or not, but if you can, maybe you can talk to them about listing their books for a penny instead of free?
