So, a whole bunch more books this evening. For many of you it's already the middle of the night, so I apologize, and hope that many of these will still be free tomorrow. The problem today was that most of the books were not released until mid to late morning, (the fault of Amazon, as I understand it from previous issues) which meant I couldn't do them early like I usually do, and the rest had to wait until I was done a full day's errands away.

FICTION
65 Below
"Retired Marine Master Sergeant Marcus Johnson returned to his family homestead in rural Alaska after twenty years chasing bad men. Now he wants nothing but to hunt and fish and run his trapline in peace and quiet, and no more war. Lurking deep in a long forgotten bunker in the remote arctic hills is a decades old secret that could not be destroyed, and was never meant to be rediscovered."
In the Shadow of Idols
"’In late October, America will be devastated by seeing thousands of Americans die, poisoned in the shadow of their false idols.’ Veteran CIA agent Valerie Vaughn hears this chilling warning from a source and sets out to stop the attack...Valerie must navigate the new world of espionage to thwart the attack, and finds that the rules have changed in unexpected ways.”
An Act of Self-Defense
“It is ten years into the future and the nation’s government is nearing financial and moral collapse. A small group (the TLR) believes deadly force is necessary to save individual liberty from the two-party political aristocracy that divides and controls Congress. They believe dictatorial powers will soon be claimed by the federal government...In this novel, I examine the issue that Thomas Jefferson predicted we would be forced to deal with. All three branches of our federal government have ignored the Constitutions protection of the individual’s rights. They have increased their own powers far beyond the limits provided in the Constitution. But what can we do about it? If our liberties, our right to make our own choices, are diminishing with every year, how do we ever regain them? Is deadly force justified?”
Lost In Juarez
“Britain in the 21st century. They know who you are. They know where you’ve been. They know what you’re thinking. Now one man will stand against them. But how can he win when everyone around him is dying and the security services already know his next move? ” A poke at freedoms lost with convenience gained.
Fierce Alchemy
Panic hits the streets of south east London as a mysterious illness takes hold, leaving hospitals unable to cope. With the imminent start of the Olympic Games, the government throws every available resource it has at the problem, determined not to succumb to supposed terrorist attacks…While investigating claims of mysterious insect attacks, … a leading environmental scientist finds herself drawn into a deadly worldwide conspiracy of scientific discovery and genetic modification.
The Chosen One - The Mossad in Iran
Middle East nuclear weapons/threat of war thriller
“Special operations veteran DJ Markis finds armed invaders in his home and it all goes sideways. On the run from the shadowy Company, he turns to his brothers in arms to fight back. Soon he finds himself in possession of a secret that threatens the stability of the world, and becomes the leader of a conspiracy to change everything…a science-fiction military techno-thriller in the tradition of Crichton, Koontz and Heppner.”Reviews says: “'apocalypse' twist, though in more end of the world as we know it rather than end of the world.”
Survivalist by Circumstance - Volume One
The start of a new series about a family who move to a rural area and eventually become survivalists. (At least, that’s how I interpret it. It’s by the author of Target: Earth which has been listed here before, and its sequels. Episode 2 is available but not free: Survivalist by Circumstance - Volume Two in which “Darrell begins to learn about how to be a survivalist, and he finds reasons that it may be a good idea to pursue that lifestyle.”
The Outpost: Book 1 of the Nuclear Survivors series
Short story. Youth. “Crayton has always looked forward to the day when he could join the rest of The Outpost in doing daily chores for the good of the community. But his mission goes bad when another colony tries to cheat him and his mentor, Jared, out of a bag of gas-masks. Jared gets shot in the leg and one of the rivals revealed that their colony, the Haefen colony, plans to attack The Outpost. With this in mind Crayton has to deal with bloodthirsty mutants, dirty bandits and an earthquake, all while helping Jared limp back to The Outpost so they can warn the others. “ Looks like the first chapter in a new series.
